Revitalize the Playground at Buttery Brook Park
Help improve our town’s hidden gem
and create a vibrant play space for our children!
The Friends of Buttery Brook Park and the South Hadley DPW Parks Department have made significant improvements to the park since 2008. A new playground area at the center of the park features two new playscapes and a large sandbox with excavators. Future improvements include the expansion of the playscape for the 5 to 12 year old kids, the installation of swing sets, and the creation of a green space where the skatepark used to be located.
Seed money for the playground equipment has been provided by the Friends, and proceeds from Friday Cruise Night food sales are the cornerstone of this effort. We encourage all those who enjoy the park to support these efforts, and we welcome new volunteers. Cruise Nights are held on Friday nightsfrom 5:30pm until dusk, starting at the end of May and ending in the middle of September.
We desperately need volunteers to help support this event! Even if you are not available on Friday nights, there are other ways you can help, such as shopping for the food that is served at Cruise Nights, picking up the trophies, etc.

Other Proposed Improvements
The new playground is part of a larger initiative to improve the entire Buttery Brook Park facility, a process that began in 2008 with demolition of the old swimming pool. Proposed long range plans include a wading pool and spray park near the playground and new tennis courts in the area of the old pool. It’s an exciting time to get involved!
